It was a complicated relationship. IDW Ratchet was an outspoken atheist, while Drift was a spiritualist. But they learned a lot from each other and became very close.

He was initially met with a cold reception, but after some minor tweaks to his personality he quickly became a fan favorite and has since appeared in various media outside of the comics.
