Pix Playable Draft

The setting of Pix is a fragile, buggy video game world born of hope and tragedy. A princess escaped to Pix from a cruel and doomed world, but the evil Lord Chaos followed her and wreaked havoc on the world. His final blow caused the Sundering that cut Pix off from the human world. King Raster and Queen Vector introduced the Glitch into the core of Pix, imprisoning Lord Chaos but damaging the code that underlies the world. Today, Pix is a peaceful place. In the game, you play as a monster who lives in Pix (or one of the rare humans who finds themselves there), helping other monsters with everyday problems, or what passes for everyday in a whimsical video game world.

I decided to send out a playable (but as yet untested) draft of Pix out to patrons this month. It’s missing the scenarios, NPCs, and items that I want to include in the final version, but everything else I currently have planned for the game is in there, if not always as polished or fleshed-out as I want it to become.

Needless to say, Undertale is easily the most important influence in terms of overall concept, though I drew on a wide range of media. Design-wise it’s heavily based on Golden Sky Stories, but with some ideas drawn from Powered by the Apocalypse, Blades in the Dark, Danger Patrol, and a few others.

So yeah. I hope you enjoy it! If you decide to play it or just have ideas/suggestions, let me know! I’m just about ready to start a playtest campaign of my own.
