A Very-Delayed September Story (ft. Jailor Eckman's Karaulov Twins)
Added 2022-10-18 03:28:57 +0000 UTCAs it turns out, the universe very much dislikes me doing anything in October. First I lost any meaningful internet access for a while, then the drive my operating system was installed to got corrupted to the point of being functionally destroyed, so I've had to deal with recovering from that nonsense.
Fortunately, my work was on a different drive all along, so nothing major was lost, but it's still been a pretty major setback for a variety of reasons, not least of which is because I don't have all the same tools available anymore.
Consequently, this is going to be the last new story to be uploaded in .docx format; the editable format going forward will be .odt. This shouldn't affect anything, since everything that can open .docx can also open .odt, but there you go. Some stories will continue to have their editable file uploaded as .docx, but only because they were started before all of this happened so they're just going to continue to be saved as they are.
Because it's taken so long, this is going to be available to everyone immediately.

Anyways, this time I've borrowed some of Jailor Eckman's characters, previously featured in several of his works and my own story Passing the Rest Stop, which in itself is of course based on the Eckman piece of the same title. Turns out that story hasn't actually been uploaded here yet, I don't think, but it's available on AO3 and everywhere else my normal stories end up.
Here, we explore the threat Harlyn made at the end of that story, and the consequences of a revenge plan enacted with precisely zero forethought.
