I had so many thoughts about the things you said. To follow up on what I said about the lack of pregnancy tests in last episode’s comments, because of that, doctors weren't the ones who confirmed a pregnancy, it was the woman and her close confidantes who knew first. Therefore the note couldn't have been a confirmation of pregnancy. She probably already knew from inside the pavilion. Also, it does seem that the person who is spreading the knowledge about poisons and abortifacients is using these others who have grudges to further their ends. Maybe there's an overall plot but those at the lowest level who are carrying it out don't need to be in on the conspiracy. As for Gaoshun, I don't think there's a requirement that a man caretaking a royal from childhood needs to be a eunuch. It was only necessary when Jinshi himself took up the guise of a eunuch, in order to continue to be with him. Basen and Jinshi are the same age, or very close to that. Of course, they (Gaoshun and Jinshi) are taking that drug which does make it so that he isn't going to have more children, at least while playing the part. A final thing that many people do not seem to absorb, is that the concubines, especially the most high-ranking ones, are hiring and firing their own staffs. So all the incompetent ladies-in-waiting are actually under the concubines' control, to some extent. They might need approval to take action, and there seems to be more freedom from the hiring end, but the palace is not just simply forcing these ladies on the concubines.
