The Last Leg North...

Hi everyone,

Ava here :) I’ve been given the great honor this week of posting the Patreon video!

In this week’s episode, we wrap up the final leg of our ICW trip to North Carolina. And of course—what’s an adventure without a little engine scare? Thankfully, it wasn’t anything too serious, and we made it the rest of the way safely.

When we arrived in Oriental, we docked Athena at Marine Craft Marina in Merritt—the Antares hub of North America—and were welcomed with open arms. Our friends over at Triton Marine (who will be hauling the catamaran) even took us out for some BBQ at Rick’s in Oriental. Let’s just say—we won’t be starving once we move!

We may have decided to move to Oriental after only three days, but it already feels like the right decision. The remoteness and natural beauty are exactly what we’ve been looking for. Moving Athena was just step one of many in this transition—which brings us to where we are now…

We’re back in Florida, and Mads has put us straight to work! It’s been nonstop since we returned—getting the catamaran ready to splash. We installed the diesel tanks, got the thru-hulls in, and added a fresh coat of bottom paint.

Also... we got a new power washer—and I’m obsessed. The amount of grime that came off that boat was unreal. She’s looking pretty Spiffy, if I do say so myself. It’s been great to be back alongside Mads, both of us covered in dust again.

Huge shoutout to Dave and Olive, who’ve been absolute lifesavers since we got back to Florida.

And of course, thank you for following along with all our wild ideas—including this move to North Carolina. We can’t wait to share every speck of sanding dust with you :)

Love that last sentence in your narrative. I'm glad you're able to be with Mads again. Your spontaneous, whimsical attitude and delightful smile add to the two of you in the videos. Keep enjoying your refit; they are entertaining and educational to watch. Cheers
