Am I allowed to be proud from time to time? Sure, the lines for the plates needed a little refinement and I took longer than I needed to with the colouring (because it was fun!), but the underbelly blush, the tentative blue veins around the center of attention, the softness of it. Even making the orbs shinier in the second picture. It went smoothly enough, and I'm grateful for that.
As I struggle with bureaucracy, such a simple job is almost like a reassurance that when I get back to work, I'll be fine. Art for me can sometimes be an immense cause of distress, but whenever other factors push me down, it's art that lifts me back up. No matter how mundane, being on the canvas is much nicer than being in the real world. And it's kinda cool that this all only comes to me now that I write this post. It's important to take a step back sometimes and work these feelings out. When you're in it, you rarely know what's really hitting you.
