"Don't not start and keep procrastinating because of obstacles. Bc they're going to come. Just start walking. When those problems come, deal with them and keep on walking." Maaaaaan, Nigel really is spiting out what I need to hear during the My Pace lyrics listen! How... how?! Did he know. I needed to hear that?! Anyway, thank you, brother. We family, and family says hard things to each other, and that whole thing during My Pace was what I needed to hear. Thank you.

Sometimes is easy to forget that they are self produced and they were young. I actually love seeing their evolution and how they are not afraid to experiment with their sound. They are original and creative but no one is pro from the start! I think is very courageous of them because to be experimenting with new things that they don’t even know it’s going to work or be well received …this industry is cut throat but they remained true to themselves and believed in their journey.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this to you yet, but stray kids will release an album β€œintro” along with every release. It’s a 20-30min video they post on youtube to talk about the creative process of making the album and the musical and conceptual ideas. It’s SUPER cool to hear them talk about their process and hear the messages from the source :)

Felix didn't have many lines or verses back then because he wasn't fully fluent in korean at that time

M.I.A is a song to their younger selves, not a failed relationship. Watch the MV and you'll understand better.

Cat Morales

I’m so happy you like voices because it’s one of my favorite songs!

Glenda Poole

well said! i don't know much about the situation but what i do know is there's a proper and respectful way to go about things than just leaving your team stranded the way he did. if he wanted to leave that's fine. people could respect that choice. but where he fumbled the bag was in how he left. it was in such a thoughtless way to the other members and caused them a lot of pain and stress. i get doing what's best for you, but these were meant to be your bothers. even if you want to leave they are still people you shared a bond with. leaving them high and dry the way he did is, from my understanding, what a lot of people take issue with.

Ok- this is going to be really long, but I hope you read it to maybe get a little better insight into the Kim Woojin situation. I hope it's helpful! I wouldn't say they rerecorded almost their entire discography after woojin left, as they have SO MANY SONGS (the majority being created after he'd already departed). But yes, they re-recorded a good few of their more prominent/popular songs from their older albums, which they re-released on their special albums SKZ2020 & SKZ2021. Those newer versions are the lyric videos you've been listening to for the most part; which personally I think is fine simply because those are the versions they promote today. If you want to listen to their original versions with 9 members on it, those are from their official YouTube page and you just turn the subs on. I'm not 100% all of them have subs since their so old, but I THINK so πŸ˜… Now: I came to the fandom after woojin had already left, but I was really interested in what all went down at the time so i did a lot of digging. As a whole, NO ONE truly knows why woojin left aside from him, and the skz members alone. Especially Bang Chan. It's never been blatanty announced publicly, although woojin did release a very... convoluted, odd 'documentery' type video on his YT that briefly touches on it? It still confuses me, so i cant really speak on it here, sry lol. A basic rundown of what I figured out though is that there were some heavy accusations going on against him which ran wild, as rumors typically do. Eventually it was all debunked, but some fans still have opinions about it... other than that though, I believe what really divided the fandom in regards to woojin was how he decided to leave. He wrote a letter to stays that announced his departure, which was all good and fine. But be chose in that letter to announce his solo activities in the near future, and to look forward to them. It was in poor taste to do so.... this was because woojin leaving happened VERY suddenly, DURING skzs active promotions for the Levanter album/promotions. Woojin leaving the group was as much of a surprise/shock to skz as it was to STAYS. SKZ suddenly had to completely rerecord, remaster, and refilm all of their Levanter album under strict time restraints. They had to pull the pre-ordered albums off the shop and repackage the entire thing. I believe their comeback date had to be pushed back by 2 months due to it. During that time, SKZ went dark. Chan didn't do chans room for a month or so, and when he came back, he was obviously exhausted, devestated and a bit salty. It was definitely a well justified "WTF" moment for the boys, because they always planned to be 9. Chan really loved and respected woojin in their group, and him leaving left an obvious wound that I still don't think has healed. The fact that he suddenly left during active comeback promotons, than chose to announce and soft promote his new endeavors and label, WHILE apologizing and informing the fandom he'd already built was like a massive slap in the face for everyone. It is what it is, though. It already happened, woojin has now been out of the group for far longer than he was in it, and I often think stays/cubs need to just let it go at this point. I do know it's hard to do so something though, cuz people and businesses keep confusing the number of members during promotions, even in 2023, and comparisons keep happening today when they shouldn't be. Stray Kids and Woojin are all successful in their own careers, and that's a beautiful thing for everyone. I am personally not a fan of woojin as an individual, but I can appreciate his music today as someone who wasn't in the fandom when it was all going down. He DOES have a BEAUTIFUL voice, anyone who denies that is lying. Fun fact: he was actually a trainee at SM before JYPE. I'm not sure why SM didn't work out, but just to futher emphasize his vocal abilities. He also has some good songs of his own out that are very pretty/catchy. I think the discourse is from how it all broke down so catastrophically without any warning, and seemingly without any remorse. Then the large amount of pressure and sadness the kids had to go through ad a result. Any way, personally I prefer Stray Kids as OT8. Woojin was very much the primary/lead singer while he was in the group, and because of that, Lee Know, seungmin, IN, and Han didn't get the chance to shine like they do now. I for one appreciate getting to hear them like we do today. To come back to the rerecording of their discography: this is also due to the fact that woojin had credits/rights attached to certain songs on their albums in various degrees. As a way to avoid copyrights and royalties, etc, they redid certain songs. For example, some main songs like My Pace are still strongly used in SKZs activities, concerts etc today. They redid that one so they'd be free to preform it; if they didnt rerecord it, they couldnt preform/use it now. Hope that makes sense! Anyway.. in conclusion, woojin leaving was a dark, sad time but ultimately was better for both parties careers. He has some good songs out (mostly covers but some origionals as well) and i suggest checking them out! Just be mindful that a lot of the fandom doesn't have good feelings towards him for how things happened, and for how people are often bringing him up to compare then and now, or confusing the group as 9 and not 8. Im sorry this was so long. I hope there aren't too many typos cuz im not proof-reading rn lol. Hopefully someone read the whole thing and enjoyed it. If I'm wrong on anything, plz let me know below, just be nice about it 😊 β™‘
