Until the Elven Nation Attacked 13

In one of the more open areas under the shade of the Goddess' massive green crown of leaves, the elves gathered, and I was among them.

While the process of working on the most immediate concerns was in motion, there were other things to do that I didn't have much in the way of ability to help. Choosing a place to put the house of government, choosing a design for it, all of that would see my input, but it would mostly be handled by those who were experts in the matter.

I had to do what I had to do and what I could do in the meantime.

So as it turns out?

Bicycles are extremely easy to create when you have access to the internet. Literally every single step of the process required to build a functional bicycle were in there, and guess what, the same rubbery stuff processed from the world tree we use to make our clothes, can be used to make airless wheels.

I've already shown the elves the very basic idea behind a gearbox.

Now, however, it's time to start showing them what a vehicle could look like. Kalatina is hard at work in the mines looking for the specific mineral materials we're going to need in order to get started on self powered vehicles, and even after that I'm going to need a reliable source of salt or saltwater, but for the time being...

It had only taken one month of work with Miel for her to finish producing a set of prototype vehicles for me to show off.

The bicycle was the one I had to show off myself. Luckily, I do know how to ride one, and this stupidly overpowered elven body comes in handy, providing me an inhuman sense of balance that overcomes me not having ridden a bike literally in all of my life since I reincarnated here.

"This vehicle is called a bicycle," I said, "and its design allows someone to cover long distances at vastly greater speeds than they could with just themselves, and on top of that, it tires you out less than if you were running the same distance as well," I explained, as I put my hands on the handlebar at the front.

I couldn't help but feel a little sketchy. Sure, the wooden frame was tougher than if we had actually made it out of iron, and it was reinforced with iron bands besides, especially in the parts that would rub against each other, metal handled that better than the wood. The dry wood was quite flammable and the friction would light it ablaze, but the iron Kalatina got for us didn't have that problem.

So we had a wooden frame but all the moving parts that rubbed against each other were iron, and it was all held together with homemade screws, nuts and bolts. It was a marvel of what some at home would call redneck engineering.

And as I threw my leg over it, making sure to retract my penis because we didn't really have time to cushion the seat, I adjusted so that I sat properly on it.

A thought crossed my mind. I remember someone making a joke, somewhat vaguely, about wanting to be reborn as a lady's bicycle seat. I adjusted my position on it and put my feet on the pedals. Again, a combination of wood and metal, though leaning more heavily on the metal due to all the parts that would rub against each other.

The gears were still made of wood, but most everything else, the large disk, the chain, the pedals themselves, was made of metal, mostly the parts that didn't rub against anything else and needed to be tough and sturdy were wood. Miel could thankfully work the metal herself for the more general stuff while the delicate work was passed on to dedicated metalworkers.

I looked in front of me. This place was mostly covered in grass, but the massive roots of Yggdrassil caused bumps and elevation raises, not quite looking like a teenager's face but certainly giving the area a bumpy look that made it difficult to build there.

It was perfect to demonstrate what our engineering could do.

I kicked off forward, put my support foot on the pedal, and then began pedaling forward, right, left, right left, relying on superior strength and reflexes to adjust my own position on top of the bike.

Immediately I felt the rubbing down there, and my condition as a lewd hentai elf made itself manifest as my pussy pressed against the hard and stiff seat of the bike, distracting me for a moment as I continued to move forward.

It actually felt pretty good. Having basically nothing between my pussy lips and the seat made me feel it all the more as it rubbed against me. I bit my lip and realized I had to get up, so I stood, in order to avoid the delicious friction from the bumps causing the bike to jump as I pedaled and moved it forward.

Licking my lips I pedaled faster while on my feet, turning my body, leaning to my left, and making a wide turn, riding along one of the taller mounds that the roots raised, making something of a banked turn that I could take at high speed, turning back from whence I came. I had cleared quite a distance.

For a moment there I forgot that I was very strong, but even at a kilometer's distance, they could no doubt see me clearly, so I looked for the tallest and highest, sharpest ramp among all this uneven terrain, and then, remembering that we hadn't really added suspension to these, I caught as much speed as I felt safe, and then hit the natural ramp, riding up a steep and sharp incline and feeling the impact from the momentum and inertia before I cleared the ramp and then I could bleed off the energy with a backflip.

Which I assure you, was totally intentional and not just from me overcorrecting and overcompensating. And I totally didn't panic, that was a "woohoo!" of excitement and exhilaration, not a screeching cry of terror once I realized I was about to face the consequences of my own actions.

Fortunately, I am still bullshit, so I managed to complete the flip and land on the wheels, and thankfully, the rubbery wheels absorbed the impact, and the frame managed to retain its structure.

I'm just happy I didn't shit myself to be honest. That was fucking terrifying.

Trembling a little in excitement and not fear, I rode my bike all the way to the group once more, a little more carefully along the bumps this time, and then squeezed the brakes, pulling on a wire that put two rubber pads against the back wheel's frame.

Now, the current problem we're gonna need to solve is the brakes, because currently we just don't have the right rubber or wheel design to make this work, so currently the brakes are basically one time use only.

But we can fix that later, for now, I just brought the bike to a stop in front of the elves.

"And that's the basics of it," I explained. "Ideally, we're going to move from this design towards one that is self powered and doesn't need the rider to pedal."

But I'm thinking more along the lines of a hybrid engine, because it would be a shame not to use our physics-breaking physical abilities, one that allows the rider to coast when needed, but power the bike manually when they needed greater power?

Thoughts to share with Miel later.

I had gathered quite a few elves. Neem wasn't here, as she was busy chatting with most of the 'council' regarding what would soon become our method of governance, we'd more or less written down a mockup of what I wanted to have as a constitution and it would be up to them to craft one more akin to the people who would be ruled by it now.

So who was I showing the vehicles to, you might ask?

Well, Meltriss and her girls were among them, first of all. I have not yet gotten to the point of sexy elves in biker girl leathers riding motorcycles, but we can leave the card games for later.

"How's that look to you?" I asked Meltriss, as I stepped off. "If you have a vehicle like this, you can move really long distances in short times," I explained, "and that will allow you to both do patrols and deliver messages with greater freedom."

"Yeah, that does look useful, that was very fast! Also that jump, and the spinning, that was so amazing!" Meltriss said, her eyes shining. Behind her, many of the elves were also chattering in excitement.

"And that's not all. Miel!"

My shout was heard and then I gestured towards our west, where Miel was bringing the second vehicle we had managed to craft.

Significantly more barebones than the Bicycle, but at the same time, a lot more complex, we had created a vehicle that resembled two bicycles riding parallel to each other, in a shape not entirely dissimilar to a two seater pickup truck. We had managed to create a very boxy and rough design for our first Quadricycle, but one that served its primary goal.

Miel let it bleed off speed, braking a lot more gently to conserve her brakes, and then brought the vehicle to a stop in front of us.

"This," I explained, turning to the congregated elves, "is called a car. Well, this is a very basic and primitive version of a car at any rate," I said, smirking, crossing my arms under my chest and lifting them some as I walked towards the back, taking out my hand and slapping the side of it. "This baby can fit six elves on the back, and three at the front, and still have space for gear and equipment or small cargo!" I said.

"It's powered similarly to the bicycle we've already shown you, except this one has two sets of pedals so two people at the front can share the burden of powering it for long distance travel, and the steering wheel at the front provides more control of your direction train," she gushed, standing up and showing off the 'cabin' with her hand.

Currently it was more of a box that had the vague image of a cabin, with a seat that had been cannibalized from an attempt Miel had made of crafting a coach wagon, and a steering wheel that was actually a hoop for her attempt at recreating a weapon she once heard vaguely.

Apparently she had heard of chakrams but wound up creating a hula hoop because she didn't know how they worked.

Welding was very hard without proper tools, and with very sensitive eyes, but we made do.

"Alright, I'll need volunteers to ride on the back for the demonstration of the vehicle's personnel carrying capability! Who wants to take a ride?" I asked.

The Guard Girls were hesitant, but luckily, I didn't actually need volunteers. Meltriss grabbed five more and then directed everyone to get on the back of the quadcycle truck hybrid.

It was about to go... poorly.

But the advance of science is built on experiments and carefully controlled failure!
