Added 2017-09-24 03:29:36 +0000 UTCHey hi folks! I came back from PAX West and immediately took off again for SPX, the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland! It was a brief but amazing (and exhausting) experience, and while I didn't get to move nearly as much inventory as I thought, I did meet amazing people and learn a lot—and you can't put a price on that!
I'm back home for a little bit now as I prepare to visit Toronto for the upcoming Damage Camp conference, where I'll be speaking about game design and speedrunning! :D I'm excited to share my knowledge and also say hi to my wonderful Toronto friends!
It's been a busy two weeks for Squid Maids as well: I launched the book publicly on itch.io as a digital download and on my store as a physical purchase! The sales so far have been very motivating and while I'm not out of the woods yet, I think I can just...keep this up? I can keep writing and illustrating light novels, and I'll have enough to pay rent and travel a bit if I'm lucky? I'm overjoyed that it's all working out as well as it has and honestly it hasn't fully hit me yet that I'm closer to living from freelance, independent work than I've ever been in my life. Fingers crossed I can reach it, because I think it might just be within my grasp.
Thanks again for your support—I literally wouldn't be here without you. I'll soon be sharing what my next light novel will be with you all, and I can't wait! It's going to be a lot of fun to write. Until then, please take care of yourselves—and let's keep making wonderful things together. 💙
