FISH MARKET [40x40]

I probably could have thought of a better name but alas.

This expansive coastal map features a grand sea-themed tavern set aboard a docked ship. Given its intricate, elaborate carpet, the tavern is fittingly named The Compass Rose. Here, patrons revel in hearty food and drink, while those in need of rest can retire below deck to private quarters.

Beyond the ship, a bustling market lines the waterfront, offering freshly caught fish of all shapes and sizes, along with an assortment of wares—fragrant herbs, exotic spices, ripe produce, and warm baked goods. Along the docks, fishing boats bob in the waves, some tethered to an in-water cage used to keep the day’s catch fresh—though it’s an easy target for lurking sea monsters.

The coastline is dotted with various buildings, each serving a vital role in the community. A shrine to an ocean god stands as a beacon for sailors, where they pray for fair winds and bountiful hauls. Monks here also tend to the sick and injured, offering healing to those in need. Across the street, beside the stables, a small bank manages trade documents, currency exchanges, and the safekeeping of valuables. The building’s other half houses a modest guard post, overlooking a basement of holding cells—often occupied by unlucky tavern-goers who drank their purses dry.

Next to the bank, a cartographer’s shop welcomes adventurers seeking reliable maps for their journeys, along with secret knowledge of monsters lurking in the waters. The final structure belongs to the dockworkers, whose labor keeps trade flowing. However, in the depths of their basement, traces of a more illicit operation lurk—counterfeit goods and falsified trade documents hint at a shadowy side to this otherwise bustling port.
