WIP March Preview I and Lord Gosumba Charity Event Starts on the 18th

2-24-22 edit

Added images of test prints and render of all scaffolding platforms. Figures can balance on walls and I went with 6x2mm magnet insert slots for the room walls. I also put together a ladder system with little bases they sit in to help with the stability on the tabletop. Square and irregular bases can balance on the lader system easily. Round bases are a little more work.

FrostGrave Underground Dungeon Scatter

I picked up a Frostgrave rule book and a bunch of their supplements last month

In reading the rules for this game, it became obvious that typical dungeon tile systems are likely not great. I decided there could be some need for a setup that ignored the ground and exterior border and really focused on the inner guts of the area while allowing for extremely rapid set up and stability.

I made some shaped stone wall/cave wall scatter that can be rapidly placed, at various distances (or even pushed together) to create environments with tons of blind corners and short sight lines. Ground rubbles have been similarly designed to provide partial cover and force movement penalty decisions. I also have some walls for making rooms. Magnets come in Friday. I’m getting 4x2mm and 6x2mm, I’ll see which one seems easiest to work with and get some slots cut in those. While I made these parts for a specific game and environment, the tops are finished so it could all be used for outside environments as well.

Scaffolding Platforms

I’ve just gotten underway with knocking out 4-6-8 inch platforms at 2-4-6 inch heights.

Abbey and Gothic building with scaffolding

I revisited some old builds and did some new remixes that were then combined with the scaffolding. They will be delivered as one part and also with cut options for 12 hour print parts. The Gothic façade has been resized to better match the Abbey brick work and now stands a bit over 12 inches tall. Should be enough for characters to pick-up some fall damage.

Fountains

I have a small set of ruined fountains in the works!

Coming soon! Road Part extras and one-story ruins

We have a call for some one story ruins that I’ll be starting on today and will be getting those long promised road part extras done as well this weekend. I'll just add images here instead of making a whole new post.

This is exactly what I thought. Perfect walls for skirmish fighting and special table sets or diorama. Very nice! Glad i came back!

I Hope so, I think I'm going to try and make a a new board to show it off better, though I still have a lot of it to print out.

Thanks a bunch Alex!

Very useful looking sets, the two styles of walls should work well for RPGs and skirmish gaming

Yeah, it's the scaffolding and roads that I'm most interested in doing. Thanks for the ideas. I'm starting to come up with a plan....

Ron

A few people who I talked about it with generally sell stuff in sets of 3 to 5. So the labyrinth stones could be busted down to a 3 and 4 set The bigger problem is the stuff like the scaffolding. Typically it just doesn't end up being made except by request/special order, aside from a couple that can work as stand-alone.

The modular stuff still screws me up a bit from a commercial standpoint. Do I sell individual pieces? Do I come up with a set of some sort? Still working that part out.... Amazing work as always. :)

Ron

Looks great. Always love highly usable modular stuff!

Alex A

I'll add more images today. These as well are done, and I'll get the renders up:)

That sounds awesome. Any chance you can share a preview of the scaffolding platforms?

For my own knowledge, Are we talking landscape stuff, space station ruins, what is the range where you see a need? I know there is a ton of tiles and DragonsRest has done a lot of ships.

Yes Stargrave is awesome. 5 Parsecs from Home stole my heart recently. So sci-fi terrain would be greatly appreciated.

Jonathan Williams

Archipelago is very underserved and I would LOVE so see what you would come up with!

Thanks for the comment and all the support Charles!

I'll take a look when I get home and post a picture up. The walls are in the 12-13mm range on top. Balancing should be possible but may not look amazing.

Thanks Nicolai!

Ah yeah, I might pick that up, I was keen on checking out the Archipelago first. I've never taken a run at si-fi. There are a lot of software programs and people who can crank that stuff out. I would have to put up a poll or something to see if there is space to jump in.

Awesome! That worked out nice:) I picked up some of the northstar miniature sets as well. I didn't know anyone was making true 28's till they showed up in the mail. I guess the good new is that I can break out the old pewter .

Great timing! I just picked up Frostgrave and a couple supplements myself.

Brilliant! There's also Stargrave for your SF needs. [hint, hint] https://ospreypublishing.com/stargrave

Whoaaaa this looks sooooo dooooope!!!!

Looks great. The Abby looks really playable and modular… will be fun to combine with the scaffolding from last month. Solid solution for the scaffolding platform … the engineering looks right. And scatter walls too! They look useful for several applications … are they wide enough for a 25mm based mini to stand on? Thank you for putting these out there.

Cristian Cooney

As ever, some of the best scatter terrain. Perfect for Frostgrave and Mordheim.
