When I play a video game one of my favorite moments is when the game acknowledges things that I have done. Where they have effects beyond what is obvious. That is something that I try to add in every moment in How to be a Hero. I want anyone who plays my game to feel like they shaped the world in some way.
A decent chunk of the writing is actually taking into account such things. Look at the above example. This is a scene that plays early in the Pure Elf route. You get to take her on a date. If you do not have the Half Elf Follower, Rania, then Lady Sluttony will give you some advice. If you do have her, Rania will advise you instead. The resulting date is completely different.
Another example is Zinia who, depending on when you meet her, will comment on everything you've achieved so far.
Nari's dialogue changes in several places depending on if you bought the anti-poison charm.
