We have a new ‘Large Please Daddy’ Arnie/Chunt/Usidore design by the wonderful Andres del Valle in our TeePublic store now!
From Arnie:
A short but packed month. The biggest highlight was returning to San Francisco for our fourth Sketchfest appearance. Saw some great shows (HRR, George Lucas Talkshow) and was in some great shows (HRR, Hello from the Magic Tavern). Had some great meals, bothered a few people to eventually be on the podcast but honestly the best part of the trip was running into old friends in the back of theaters or in the hotel lobby. Festival life!
Emily helped hook me up with a financial planner and good news, I have a 20% chance of ever being able to retire!

From Matt:
February 2024
It was a big month of ups and downs.
My grandfather passed away while we were in San Francisco. I will miss him, but we were able to visit him and my family the weekend before the festival.
We had a great show in San Francisco (and a great time seeing friends, new and old). Thanks again to the Brava Theater, Janet Varney, and SF Sketchfest. Always great to have a chance to hang with the Magic Tavern crew, and we really made the most of this trip, seeing shows and spending quality time with one another. I saw Varietopia!, The George Lucas Talk Show, and Hey Riddle Riddle (which I almost crashed to sing I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General). Next year.
But most importantly, I got engaged! Jessye and I love each other very much and we’re looking forward to moving into the next chapter of our lives together.
Audio:
Started listening to Tales of the Celestial Kingdom by Sue LynnTan. I really enjoyed the original duology and this is a backstory and side story addendum.
TV/Movies/Web stuff:
Jessye and I are still on a Worst Cooks in America binge. Love it. No apologies.
Games:
Still enjoying Cozy Grove. Picked up Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, but still haven’t dug into it. I’m also still messing around with Super Mario Wonder .
Food:
Every meal that we had in SanFrancisco was amazing. Foreign Cinema, Mandalay, and Sweet Maple. On one particularly challenging morning for myself, we found a place called The Tailor’s Son and it was such a delicious treat. They had what amounted to an eggs benedict served on focaccia bread. Outstanding.

From Adal:
Here’s what I consumed in February. Let me know if you have any recommendations:
TV:
- Shogun - I’ve only seen the first 2 episodes but they were absolutely epic. I think this is going to be something special.
- Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12
- The Daily Show - I’ve been checking back in on Mondays to catch Jon Stewart.
- Survivor season 46
- Abbott Elementary season 3
- Mr. & Mrs. Smith - this was way better than I think anyone expected. I hope we now see Maya Erskine in more high profile projects
- Last Week Tonight season 11
- David Chang: Dinner Time Live
- Deadloch - only a few eps in but it’s been a charmingly dark and off-kilter ride so far
- Somebody Feed Phil season 7 - he eats like a tortoise but I love this show
- Untold: Swamp Kings
Movies:
- Dune and Dune 2 in 4DX
- High School Musical - Jemma decided the other day we had to watch this since I’d never seen it
- The Zone of Interest - after High School Musical I picked this to watch. Not sure if there’s a bigger chasm between 2 movies in the history of film?
- Nate Bargatze: Full Time Magic
- Nate Bargatze: The Tennessee Kid
- Nate Bargatze: The Greatest Average American
- Rory Scovel: Religion, Sex and a Few Things In Between
- Ron Funches: Giggle Fit
Music:
- Chromeo: Adult Contemporary
- MGMT: Loss of Life
- The Decemberists: Burial Ground
- The Libertines: Shiver
- P.J. Harvey: I Inside the Old Year Dying
Other Stuffs:
- Wonderful to see some of you at Sketchfest this year! Thank you to everyone who said hi and those who handed off a thoughtful gift. Had some incredible food at Mandalay and Il Porto Fino and tasty drinks at both Bourbon & Branch and Zombie Village (the passion fruit whipped cream sitting atop one of my drinks was such a hit that Jemma ordered a side cup of it). We also very much enjoyed the Time Train room at The Escape Game San Francisco.
- Threw a Super Bowl party and an old friend introduced me to one of my new favorite things, Donna’s Pickle Beer. I’m now on the hunt for pickle beers so please keep your eyes peeled
- My sister Sadieh was back in Chicago to film a few episodes of season 3 of the tv show Somebody Somewhere; so look for that on MAX soon!
- Jemma and I went to NYC to see Sleep No More one more time before it closes. I had a dynamite last hurrah - getting an elusive one-on-one. I promptly bought tickets for 2 more visits to Sleep No More in March….after those THEN I’ll be done….
- Also while in NYC we did a great escape room at MyssTic Rooms (the Ghost Light room), saw the new immersive show Tiger Bride, enjoyed Bagel Pub a few times and went to the vegetarian restaurant Anixi; where Jemma teared up from joy while tasting the first bite of her ‘steak’ that she said was just like the real thing.
- In Chicago I’ve been bewitched by Bad Ass breakfast burritos and went back to Warlord (my other obsession) a couple more times. Jemma and I enjoyed the local immersive show Lonely Hearts: The Haunting, seeing John Mulaney at The Den, catching the New Zealand dance group Black Grace and seeing the musical Illinoise (based on the Sufjan Stevens album)
- Jemma and I love the board game Horrified so we picked up and played the new Horrified: Greek, with all greek mythology monsters. At some point I’ll need to grab the Norther American Monsters version which is supposed to be fun
- Hello From the Magic Tavern recorded our first episode of season 5 with a guest I think folks will be excited about. The new season starts March 18th
- I recently guested on the podcast The Brett Demott Show, which I was already a fan of. Their recent episode with Erin is especially great
- I enjoyed listening to the podcast mini-series Keys to the Kingdom - about all the sordid behind the scenes shenanigans at DisneyLand
- Wednesday Jemma and I head off to hunt the Northern Lights! Wish us luck!
Love
