2025-02-21 19:19:34 +0000 UTCNot a musicals guy usually (likely cos I'm not usually a lyrics guy), but the song Erin sang a few lines of has one of my favorite melodies ever. First time I heard it my spouse played the original cast recording, and I thought, "ok, another generic upbeat musical song". But then *that* line and melody came along, added a new dimension and emotion to the song, and now I'll occasionally sing the melody with random sentences plugged into it instead of the lyrics. (Kind of like Adal's "...or else forget about it".) That line's power comes from being in the middle of a melody that is somewhat polite, and likely wouldn't be anywhere near as effecting without that context.
