Deep Sea Collection (sample preview)

 Hi fish fries!! We are already half way through August already, can you believe it? (Still feels like I'm living in 2021 tbh 😳) I got some samples in for the new release stuff that I am just SO gosh darn excited to show you! It's been a while since we've had a big update, I think the last one we had was summer of last year? 😭💦 As many of you know, I've been recovering from burn out for the better part of this year, but I think I'm slowly getting back into the hang of things and all in all, I'm really excited and happy for this release in September _(:"3/ 

I've been planning this release since December of 2021, so I can't emphasize enough how cool it is to finally see some of these products come to life! The deep sea is one of my favourite parts of the ocean (though there is so much to love about it to begin with)--there's very little we know about it but it's one of the most incredible and diverse environments with so many cool species that definitely need to be featured, hence this special collection!

Just a few revisions that I'll be making on some designs for the update:

• Oarfish bucket hats

The oarfish base colour will be changed from purple-y to a more grey colour! I originally wanted it to be a grey, but somehow in the final production it got changed to a more vibrant purple colour (the photos don't capture it very well but I'll try to take better photos later!). I ordered them in bulk already and they've been released to the warehouse so I'm most likely going to sell these at a discounted price just for the trouble/to get rid of them all! The grey ones are still in the process of being made and hopefully will be sent out by end of August :-)

• Coelacanth Society & Nautilus Network Hoodies

The colour I picked specifically for the water parts of the coelacanth society and nautilus network hoodies (both the same colour) turned out to be especially dark, especially on the navy hoodies! I was under the expectation that the blue ink would be bright enough to contrast well against the navy-black but it blends almost perfectly unless you're looking at an angle, you can definitely see it more in the text on the Coelacanth Society hoodie (where there are missing letters) so I'm going to go with a slightly ligter colour for the water, and then a completely different colour (the same one I used for the coelacanth's fins) as the text so that it stands out more!

I'm in the process of getting these revised, hopefully I'll be having these new revised samples in hand by next week! These will be hooded zip ups so I'm super excited to be able to share them and make them available next month!!

• Deep Sea T-Shirt & Matching Sweatpants

My original intent when making these two designs was for it to both match (I specifically picked the same animals, with the exception of the coelacanth, and same colours) but I had the shirt sample done in navy and the pants done in black to see the print contrast on them. I personally ended up really liking how the print on black came out so I'm going to order an additional sample of the t-shirt design on black to see the printing! I'm thinking it'll really bring out the colours more, so in the final release the tshirt will most likely be released in black instead of navy! 

Though they won't be released any time this year, I think, I'll definitely be making some more sweatpants to match the other apparel I've made earlier this year (like the moon jelly hoodie in lavender, the prehistoric pals hoodie in black, genus mola in navy, and crybaby in navy)! These sweatpants are also suuper comfy with two front pockets and one back pocket and fleece lining! I'm not usually someone who wears sweatpants but after trying them on I'm really happy with the look and feel of them so I hope you all will look forward to them too!
