Behind the scenes: Calorie Video Intro Joke

For any of you who are keen on the editing process, this video is what I started out with for the intro joke on my most recent video about why calories don't matter.

My editing mantra is "get to the point" So I wanted to be able to "hook" viewers into watching the rest of the video in as short a time as possible. The intro needed to:

1) Be funny without relying on the viewers to get the references [Rise of Superman & Epic Sax Man] 2) Make it clear that the video would be talking not about some pitfalls of the calorie theory, but that it will suggest that nothing about the calorie makes sense. (This would require some "in your face"-edness)

I was pretty satisfied with what I had until I came back to it the next day. I realized:■It needs to be made short enough to where even if it's not funny, it will be over with quickly. ■Kevin Spacey's "WRONG" alone would suffice to achieve the punchline. The "come on let me hear it" is much too long and is only good if people have already seen the Superman movie.■The words synced along with the saxophone music took way too long to get to the point. In the new one you'll see that I changed the text to get to the point right away while still being fun to watch it sync with the saxophone riff. ■There was too much silence at the beginning, it makes you wonder if your speakers are working. I made the audio come in right away in the new version. ■Adjusted the volume of Spacey's "wrong" - don't want to jump scare people right off the bat.
