The video I was making for this months tutorial didn't survive. So I re-edited the original footage of this video of Kazia from 2019. Although some of my working methods have changed a bit since, the footage still contains some great information.

The straw that broke the camels back for this months tutorial ended up being entirely too much glare on the paintings surface. I was aware of this during filming but no amount of light repositioning could completely resolve it. The concept of the tutorial was to paint thickly with no blending, using large flat brushes on a small canvas. It’s a great exercise and one I'll attempt again if I can solve the glare issues. If creating artwork on film wasn't already hard enough, there's always unforeseen issues that seem to seep into the mechanical processes.

Re-editing old footage can be a gargantuan and complicated task! But once started I kinda get into it, it’s a fun challenge! I reduced the original video from a horribly long and redundant 3 hours to a much more concise 30 minutes. I created the original footage at the beginning of my Patreon sojourn in 2019 when I was focusing on a multiple tiered platform of art instruction, tutorials and critiques. That Patreon model no longer exists but what grew out of it is the Patreon we have here today, focusing primarily on my reference imagery. And it’s now something I thoroughly love doing.
