A New Approach

Let’s not waste any time. Starting on January 2024, I plan to suspend the current format of Patron Picks, go over and revise tier rewards, and remove the “3 full-shaded pictures a month guarantee,” clause of my Patreon description (yes, that exists). Ever since I started charging hourly for commissions and began the funded Squish Drive projects, I now consider Patron Picks in their current format to be a chore. I simply feel they don’t really contribute to anything significant aside from a new image pack I sell every four months, which doesn’t do much to help me mentally or financially

Instead, I’d like to switch back to working on the Lusty Lamp Resort, however, I do realize that the current format of using a full comic to explain each concept takes far too long. Instead, I’d like to shorten it to a couple of comic pages and several example pages to cover each concept, the latter of which, I’d ask for patron input. The goal of this is to meet in the middle where I focus on something I’m passionate about while also accepting outside suggestions in something akin to a request, but within a specific concept.

I still need to hash out the details on the format, but there’s two concerns of mine. For one, I’m not confident I can push out three, full shaded pictures every month, since I’d need time for comic pages in between and concept designs. Not to say there won’t be monthly exclusives, and I will try to complete as much as possible, but I no longer want to be beholden to a deadline every month. Also, I want to reduce voting poll involvement as much as possible since they kind of suck, and I’d rather pick ideas based on my own criteria. I might take more consideration of ideas from higher tiers, but I feel appeasing to my own criteria is less hopeless than a group of people. 

That’s the gist of my thoughts right now. I’ll work towards introducing more of what I have in mind over December. For now, just know that January won’t be the same as it has been previously.
