Swordtember Day 25 - Jeweled

Avaricious Avant-Garde

This sword belongs to the Andramolach family, a very successful and wealthy merchant family from Azalis Empire. The skillful craftsmanship of several famous blacksmiths, jewelers, and enchanters created the extravagantly ornate sword. It was commissioned several decades ago by the former head of the family and remains within their family mansion as their heirloom. It was used once during a civil war where the head of the family fought to protect their properties. The magnificent sword and its scabbard are decorated with dozens of enchanted gemstones. Each gem is imbued with various enchantments ranging from minor physical enhancement for the wielder to high-level offensive spells.

Avaricious Avant-Garde

Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement)

You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Spell Storing Gemstone. This beautifully ornate longsword is adorned with numerous enchanted gemstones embedded in both the sword and its scabbard. The gemstones can be activated to cast a variety of spells. The Avaricious Avant-Garde has the following spells stored in its gemstones:

• Absorb Element (5 gemstones)
• Shield (5 gemstones)
• Magic Missile (4 gemstones, 1st level)
• Invisibility (3 gemstones)
• Mirror Image (3 gemstones)
• Counterspell (2 gemstones)
• Fireball (2 gemstones)
• Fly (2 gemstones)
• Haste (1 gemstone)
• Greater Invisibility (1 gemstone)
• Wall of Force (1 gemstone)
• Chain Lightning (1 gemstone)

When you cast a spell from a gemstone, ignore all spell components except concentration, and the spell's casting time remains the same. The spell's save DC is 15, and the attack bonus is +7. Once a gemstone is used to cast a spell, it becomes mundane and loses its magical properties

Avaricious Aegis. If you fail a saving throw against a magical effect when you have at least 2 non-magical gemstones on the sword or scabbard, you can expend 2 of those gems to reroll the result and take the new result. The gemstones turn to dust when expended.
