The Book Creeper is a semi-sentient entity that was born when a spellbook belonging to a strong yet careless and inexperience arcane spellcaster unintentionally picked up pieces of its writer’s soul as they poured into it their heart and concentration to write their precious spells. Those pieces eventually accumulate and attract an Outsider that uses it as an anchor and source of power to manifest itself into this world. The entity isn’t always fully sentient because it’s an embodiment of the writer’s desire for knowledge and curiosity. It’ll hunt any source of knowledge including books, scrolls, components, and magic items, but what it really wants is a spellcaster, especially the one who writes the book. It has the ability to literally open up the spellcaster’s mind and rob them of their knowledge, rendering them unable to remember any spell or in the worst case, leave them brain dead. They first appeared a few decades after the 2nd Arcane Rewrite when spellbooks become even more important for an arcane spellcaster. Researchers believe that It is a lesser version of the Arcane Eater.

I got the idea for this creature when I remember, D&D 5e have creature that can reduce your player stats, AC, saving throw, speed, vision, HP, and I think I read some that can stole a spell. But there's none that can 'stole' your spell slot and maximum prepared spell. So I created this one, I imagine it having the ability to reduce not only your known spell, but also your maximum spell slot and number of prepared spell you can have. Seems like any spellcaster's worst nightmare right~ XD
UPDATE :
Added an additional page for The Book Creeper and its stats, along with a minion for its encounter, Living Grimoire. originally, I was thinking about giving it the ability to steal spell slots, but I think it'll be more interesting to give it the ability to steal spells and also feature and proficiency along with a bit of your memories~~
the files will be added to the Trial of Ink folder in the Vault post later.
