WIP - Pierce

Since I'm still in the 'insect theme' mood, I decided to pick a random prompt related to insect that I want to make into an item next. So 'Pierce', since next item probably gonna be a weapon, most likely rapier, spear, or pike, based on mosquitoes.

In the first page of the sketches, you can see that I settled on two base idea. One is a large rhino-like creature that can shoot out its neck like a spring, and the other one is a combination between monkey + mosquito + mantis. That rhino one is actually an old idea I had in mind that keep getting scrapped for some reason... and here it is again, getting scrapped because I end up choosing the other concept XD

At first I want to make a monkey-like creature that has one arm shaped like mantis. But then I watched Zefrank 'short documentary' on mantis shrimp, and remember there are two type of them, the puncher and the spear. From that, I come up with an idea of a creature that has that super speed spear but not always to do an instant kill or capture. What if the goal is to cause a continuous bleeding by aiming at a major artery and stalking the bleeding prey while enjoying the blood they shed.

The design then shifted to a pseudo-dragon instead of a monkey with one jacked arm. since I think it just make more sense to turn the two 'wing arm' into the spear/impaler and would probably looks cooler if I also combine it with gecko and its camouflage + ambush skill.

So that's what I'm working on next, no name yet, so let's call it mantis dragon for now~ XD
