Penguin is currently in critical care at UF animal hospital. I brought him there yesterday and I’m so thankful I did because they ended up doing emergency surgery on him last night. He had a foreign body blockage in his intestines along with a perforation within the GI tract. He was given a fifty/fifty chance of success, but he miraculously made it through his surgery. However, his chances are now even lower while trying to recover. His protein values have plummeted and if his body has any chance to heal, he needs protein in his blood. He’s on a feeding tube, but it’s not enough to get his levels up. As a last effort we are going to try blood transfusions from a few of our largest foxes if they are good candidates. As you can imagine, the bills are extremely high already. $11,000 to be exact. The transfusions will cost close to another five thousand with hospital stay. We are fighting for Penguin as best we can and it’s heartbreaking to know he’s going through this. Please keep him in your thoughts! 😞
