Mr. Marchcliffe: "Yes, the dead have powers that the living can only imagine. You are quite formidable an opponent for the flesh my dear Batman, but there is little you can do to affect the dead."
Batman: "What are you...what do you want?"
Mr. Marchcliffe: "A companion, dear Batman."
Batman: "I'm not exactly one for chit chat and companionship..."
Mr. Marchcliffe: "Perhaps not. But I seek someone not of this world, but the next one. My wife, my dearest Emma, has moved on to the spirit world while I am cursed to remain an earthly ghost. I have no more contact with that world than you do. The only token of her left that I have left, her body, awaits a vessel. And you Batman, will be that vessel."
Batman: "You're mad!"
Mr. Marchcliffe: "Let the transformation begin."
