Okay y’all this one was scheduled I PROMISE
scheduled at 2 am but ITS SOMETHING I am sleeping tonight I swear, in the meantime though! Here’s everything I’ve been doing behind the scenes:
Using EVA foam rolls, I managed to make a wrapping for each of my thighs, big enough to step into, but with a small enough exit that they sit snug on my thigh. These made the start of Ash’s leg pieces
I used a blue pleather for her fabric and started by wrapping the lower half of my left thigh
I made two small faux packets to glue on my thigh
I created straps of leather on the thigh piece
Self painted, sprayed, and finished both legs, making the robotic design on the right leg with thermoplastic
Created three more thigh size circular pieces to mimic hip rotators, one gold one for the leg piece and two black rings on either side to secure it in place
Purchased a half body mannequin and used a heat gun to create a bust form, making the chest piece out of slightly thinner EVA foam rolls
Shaved a wig down to the cap, creating a helmet with hot glue and upholstery foam, then cut soundproofing strips of foam into long stripes, hot glueing them together with a small metal rod to make them adjustable and move able
Used a black pleather fabric to create the head sides and mouldable foam to make the wiring
Cut up one of my pre owned body suits to create pattern pieces that I could then copy-paste with a marker onto my blue pleather, then cut out the pieces and attempted to sew the hood
Lost 3 pieces of my sewing machine, broke 4 needles, lost my presser foot, decided I’m better with glue, lost hours of work but the patterns didn’t go for nothing.
Used the patterns to create a bodysuit form on a black turtleneck bodysuit that I own
Used puff paint to create wiring and shoulder rotators on the bodysuit
Used the thin Eva foam to create a neck shape with my heat gun and mannequin, glued it to my turtleneck, then used mouldable foam to create the wiring shapes
Painted all of the pieces that needed painting and finishing
Created two calf pieces that sit just below my knee and above my boot
Used a wedge boot as a base to build a long teardrop shape and emulate the lower legs
Used two pieces, one upper one lower, of EVA foam to create the shoulder, taking a wrapping of my arm this time and cutting a circle until it could fit beneath my arm tight and snug
Used mouldable foam to add details
Painted the details and spray painted the piece
Created gauntlet shapes for my forearms and applied a glove to the inside, along with heat-gun-shaped finger shapes to mimic her bone fingers, then puff paint for the designs
Tried 4 methods of making the mask and finally found a way my pressing the foam to my own face and letting it dry with a safe foundation of Saran Wrap over night
Painted the mask and details myself
Painted the neck wiring
Painted the arm decals
And created her sword which is waiting to be painted and detailed
MORE INFO TOMORROW GOODNIGHT 😭
