Dr. Who Classic - Kinda Part 1

Surprise everyone. :) Here is the very first part, of the very first episode of the Classics that I have ever watched. And it was so much fun. :) Please enjoy, watching this reaction. :)

Info: I have streamed the episodes on Britbox, if anyone of you wants a 100% synced up version. I don´t know about other sources, wether they are nsync or not.

Dr. Who Classic - Kinda Part 1

Haha, that´s exactly what Andrew said to me, about him picking this episode :D Well this episode is indeed very "interesting" in terms of mindf... potential :D :D Haha Adric :D You´ll see how I feel about him, I don´t want to spoil my reaction for you :) By the way, welcome :)

Nicologik

Wow,this was a hugely unexpected story to begin your Classic viewing with - but welcome, nonetheless. Another Who reactor watched this some years back, and it went completely over his head. It will be interesting to see what you make of it. (n.b. don't worry if Adric annoys the hell out of you. Everyone in the world feels the same way)

Ian Smith

We didn't know what it meant either. :-)

Andrew Vignaux

I have seen it, but I don´t know what it means. I need help :D

Nicologik

Oh I didn´t know that it was that complicated with dailymotion. Yeah with those ad breaks it´ll be difficult, I understand. And yes, I will put up the edited versions on Youtube as soon as all 4 episodes are on Patreon. I wish I could just include the show into my reaction....Copyright is a mess though.... :/

Nicologik

Take a look at the Doctor's left lapel.

Andrew Vignaux

I thought I would not be able to watch along with this as I don't have a subscription to Brit Box which has all the classic episodes. I am trying with Daily Motion although their frequent advert breaks are not making it easy! I you are going to put an edited reaction on YouTube I may end up watching that instead! It is a very good story and I can understand why your mod chose it. It is from the mid 1980s .

Yes, I like surprises :) I am already curious what you will have to say, after I have uploaded all 4 episodes :) I do listen to the ourtro music in, I belive the second or third part. If I remember correctly. It´s nice, not to have that "next time" pressure, right after finishing the episode. :) And I really love that title sequence, I wish they had made something like this for New Who, too. That is crazy to see. I would have never imgagined, that he would travel with more people at once. but then again, we already had episodes with two people. And wait, that one time there were Jacky, her mom Mickey. So they travelled with three companions already, lol. The costumes were great. What celery? I would love to see a making of, of this episode. I mean, with most of the scenes I know how they made it. But it would be really cool to see it. Oh great, that your DVD was nsync. I was afraid it wouldn´t because the videos are so old, and you can never know. Thanks for telling me :)

Nicologik

That might be a reason. I heard that the very first ones were black and white. I can imagine, that this will be a totally different kind of feeling. :)

Another nice surprise. I think I can guess why this one was chosen. I am very familiar with this story because for a while a block of this season was the only Who content I had. I can't think of much to say about anything because of spoilers. The opening title sequence and music had been recently updated - a new show runner. I like them. BTW: one nice thing about Classic Who was they didn't have "Next Week" teasers so you can listen to the full outro music. At this time the Doctor is travelling with three companions whom he has accumulated over different stories. In this era the Doctors wore interesting costumes. Have you noticed the piece of celery? They had had green-screen (or blue or yellow at various times) for several years. But they also had access to a new video effects box - I think they used it for the digital zoom into Tegan's eye. The episode sync'd up with my Region 4 DVD.

Andrew Vignaux

I suspect your moderator wants you to see a classic episode which is not too early first so you don't get quite such a culture shock. The 1963 episodes are very different to what we see now although all the obvious elements are in place.
