Please read before watching:

Hi everyone I don´t know what happened today, but I dungoofed with this episode.

I fixed it in the editing. So if anything doesn´t work correctly please tell me.

Also since I was sooo distracted by that stupid glove in a jar, that I messed up parts of the reaction. I´m so sorry. I promise you next time I wont be so confused.

Torchwood Season 1 Episode 8

Comments

Yeah, the comment grew in the telling. I had one note "complicated plan" which I managed to expand into five paragraphs. Oops.

No problem :)

Wow thank you for your comment, I can see that you really thought much about this episode. The plan is indeed very complicated and I also think it has its flaws. As you pointed some of them out. Sometimes I wonder if I should think so much about logical flaws in an episode like this, or if this will ruin the experience for me. But you described it very well: "but I want to be picky because it's a good story." That makes sense. :) The gunshot wound is the one I do have my problems with, to be honest, because it really doesn´t make sense. As you said it would be enough to drain the energy. But maybe the writers wanted to make it worse for the viewer. Because I personally find it more horrible to see the Gwen developing a gunshot wound, than to maybe see her slowly falling asleep. It just adds to the dramatic factor. I guess blaiming the glove is a really good idea :) Haha you do have interesting thoughts, with that dribbeling when drinking. :D

I think this is a good episode but it is pretty grim as well. RTD said "It's not something Torchwood can do all the time 'cause I'd think we'd be the most miserable series on Earth if we were this dark all the time." Ok, let's be picky. I do think it's a good story - but I want to be picky because it's a good story. Suzie's plan comes down to someone using the glove on her. The whole plan can't even start if the newcomer, Gwen, doesn't talk the others into using the glove as an investigative shortcut. Because none of the others are going to suggest it. And Suzie's plan is stunningly complicated. You can follow it step-by-step in the episode but when you go back and try and justify it, the plan seems very prone to failure. How could Suzie expect that Gwen would suggest the road trip so they leave at exactly the right time so that Max, in the cell, would trigger the Hub to lock-down at exactly the time the team notice Gwen and Suzie are missing? And not ten minutes later? (Perhaps the lock-down part of the plan is even more complicated than we are initially aware of in order to be more flexible about this timing issue, but if we're making things more complicated, why not get Max to stop chanting the poem to avoid giving Jack a hint about what to do? The plan is stunningly complicated - but quite not complicated enough.) Ok, it's amusing when the police make fun of the team's predicament. But, the resolution to the lock-down turns out to be the ISBN of the book. Isn't it lucky that the police picked a copy of exactly the same edition of the book? Different edition - different ISBN. It's fortunate they didn't just download the poems from the Internet - there's no ISBN then. Gwen slowly experiencing the gunshot wound in her head is shocking. But, why is it happening? - I mean I can accept that the glove is draining the life from Gwen into Suzie but I'm still not quite sure why that means Gwen is gradually getting Suzie's exact injury. The glove does weird stuff - maybe. And how does Suzie know that this is how it works? Why doesn't Suzie die when she is shot multiple times? - that somehow she now has immortality (at least until the glove is destroyed). Again, the glove does weird stuff I guess. Anyway. Picky, picky, picky. Too many questions. I do think it's a good story. Everyone is somber here. Tosh's response to Suzie "But now I've got to keep on working every day on a job that's got a bit less honour because of you". Hm. Is it a bit gruesome or silly of me? But when Suzie drinks the tea in the interrogation room I wonder whether it's going to dribble out of the wound under her chin.

I just deleted what I wrote last night because I didn't realise you had intended to post three episodes at once and I was confused!
