Dr. Who Classics - Genesis of the Daleks Part 3

Haha thank you for your monster story. That made up for the missing ones in the episode :D I would have really loved to see those unicorn rats though :D

"Excuse me. Can you help me? I'm a spy." - The Doctor, Genesis of the Daleks No, we don't see many monsters in the cave. One assumes for budgetary reasons. However, Nicole would like to have some cave monsters so let's extend the scene with our imagination: Harry: Why is it always me who puts a foot into it? The Doctor: But I should be thanking you! You were the one that pulled me out the grasp of that mutated land squid. I wouldn't be here if weren't for you. Harry: I should be more careful about where I'm going, Doctor. I fell right into the nest of rabid unicorn-rats. If you hadn't fought them off with that polystyrene stick ... The Doctor (grinning): Come on, Harry. You'll be all right. Can you stand up? Harry: I think so. It's a shock to see Davros at the meeting with the Thals betraying the Kaleds. And of course he's only doing it as a way to destroy the Kaled leadership before they can shut down his experiments. And it all happens so suddenly - within 60 seconds of screen time. I'm still enjoying the story as well.

That makes sense, I mean that they make the screen appear smaller. I know what you mean, season 1 of Buffy was also shot with really bad cameras but I love watching it anyways, because it´s Buffy :)

As modern TV screens are wider than the old sort, the picture does not fill the whole screen. It is still a bigger picture than it was on the TVs the programme was made for though. And it does show up any flaws more easily. Still looks good to me though. Especially when i love the story.

Thank you for claryfying. That sounded so strange to me. I mean I am used to use words from other languages in German, too. Mostly english expressions, but that word sounded so wrong to me for some reason :) How does the picture look on a normal tv? I imagine it looks worse than on a smaller device? Because it wasn´t made for such big screens. I had to google Quel domage, because I had no idea what it could mean. Now I´m not only learning english but also french with you :)

I like the scarf. It looks so playfull. :) Haha that is so funny, the length was a misunderstanding ? :D :D

Nicologik

That scarf is iconic! It wasn't supposed to be that long, but (if I remember correctly) the woman who knitted it misunderstood what she was being asked to do and used all of the wool she was provided with.

Yes, we say papier-mâché and pronounce it more or less in the French way. Sometimes we adapt a French expression and make it more English and sometimes we don't. It's just the random elements in the history of language I guess. Just to make things more annoying, sometimes the British keep a French expression just as it is while the Americans change and adapt it. And sometimes it's the other way round. Plus ca change and c'est la vie, I suppose. I do have this story on DVD so I can watch it on the TV while I'm looking at your reaction. I don't remember any dull or slow episodes but my memory is terrible. Quel domage......
