I think it´s good that they put the eletrocution scene as a cliffhanger. I liked it. :) Waht about Starship enterprise though? Or is it called Startreck? i´m not sure about that. In Germany it´s called "Raumschiff Enterprise" and that is what I watched as a kid. I have never watched Star Wars when I was younger. I thought maybe he has the ability to lie without a chance for a detector to detect it. Maybe because he has some special power as a timelord. But guess he doesn´t :)

"Suppose something's waiting for us in there.", "That is nasty. Better not tell Harry, he's gone first" - Sarah and The Doctor, Genesis of the Daleks The Doctor-getting-electrocuted cliffhanger was not the end of the previous episode in the script. I think the ending was meant to be Davros's speech "But from its ashes will rise a new race ... The Dalek!" but because part three was too long in the recording they moved the cliffhanger to the electrocution scene. This story was made before Star Wars. Star Wars was filmed in 1976 and was released in 1977 (and only titled "A New Hope" in 1981). Genesis of the Daleks was filmed in early 1975 and released in March. The Doctor has been told the machine will detect if he is lying so he can't just make up some fake stuff or Harry and Sarah will be tortured. "You were right Sarah, about there being something nasty waiting for us." - The Doctor, Genesis of the Daleks

Thank you for the clarification :) Yes those dialogues were so well written. I never thought they would cover such deep topics, and do that so well, too. :)

The scene with the Doctor and Davros is a definite highlight of this episode!

Strictly speaking, the war started a long time ago because in episode one somebody referred to something that happened in "the first century of the war". But at the time The Doctor arrives there seems to be a bit of a lull while both sides try to rearm themselves for a final victory! As you said, the scenes at the end of this episode with Davros and the Doctor are very intense. They get to the heart of the ideas of good and evil and of whether anything in space-time is fixed or open to change.
