Interesting episode ...hmmm....

Hahaha, yes that would have been a weird change of the episode :D Oh the fairy episode. Well, I guess the stories of this writer are not mine at all. I have never heard of Sapphire&Steel before so I can´t really say what I think about it. Judging by those episodes though, i don´t think I would like it. :/

"Your eyes are older than your face." - Christina, "From Out of the Rain" At the start you talked about a fly crawling on your camera view finder window as if it were in the real world behind you. And I thought, "Well, that's ominous for this episode". The writer was the same one who wrote the "Small Worlds", fairies episode. As I mentioned in "Small Worlds" he had created and written episodes for the 1970s show "Sapphire & Steel". A story where characters come out of film would fit right into the types of story he wrote for the "Sapphire & Steel" series. What am I saying? He DID write a story for "Sapphire & Steel" where people come out of photographs. "Sapphire & Steel" is interesting, but it never really appealed to me. Same with this Torchwood episode.

Yes it is. And yes I do know how serious things are about to get. :D I absolutely agree. That´s how the episode felt for me, too. Like the concept was great but they had no idea, what to do with it. :) You´re right about every single point that you are making. Also the fact that Ianto was just really emotional. Like over the top emotional, I didn´t understand where that was coming from, at all. I don´t know, this is an episode I have seen, and I have no urge whatsoever, to ever watch it again.

It is a bit of a filler episode but of course you will already know by now that things get much more serious after this. The basic idea is good and the two creepy characters have a lot of potential but it is like the script-writers had a good idea and then didn't know what to do with it. Surprisingly Russel T Davies actually co wrote this one too. There is no real explanation that makes any sense about who the night traveller people actually were before they were trapped on film. Or what any of it really meant. And the solution near the end of the episode is very glib and unconvincing as if they just wanted the story to end somehow. Regarding the little boy at the end. I was rather bothered by the fact that he is going to discover that his family are all dead. Hardly a happy ending for him. And the way Ianto just seemed to know that there was one breath inside that flask by listening to it. It just didn't convince me at all. A real shame because, as I said, there was a lot of potential in the concept, they just didn't do much with it.
