Torchwood Season 2 - Fragments

Comments

Thank you for explaining the century issue for me. I really didn´t get that one :D How do you know such stuff? I mean the money thing. That´s such an interesting knowledge, thanks for sharing :) And by the way, I´m sorry you feel that I´m a little too happy to see Captain John. But I love this actor. I can´t help myself. And I can´t calm down. His appearance will always bring a big smile to my face. :D

"21st century, Jack. Everything's gonna change. And we're not ready.", Alex, "Fragments" Great episode. You want a back story - we'll give you four. The same writer as "Adrift" so ... that's interesting. Captain Jack: He was discovered by the Torchwood women in the late 1800s. What the card reader meant by "the century turning twice" was the change from 1900-1901 and then 2000-2001. (I'm pedantic enough to point out that the end of the century is the end of the 00 year.) Captain Jack doesn't meet the Doctor again until the start of "Utopia" in the 2000s. The money that was handed over to Captain Jack were the old British ten-pound notes. Well, actually, I couldn't find an image that exactly matched the "Ten" script - presumably people don't like it if film-makers have too realistic currency. This style of British bank notes was printed only on one side. They were first used in 1759 and stopped being used in 1945. I think the item Alex is holding is a alien locket that gives him the ability to glimpse the future - still not a good excuse to kill everyone in Torchwood though. Toshiko: We have seen her mother before as part of the "End of Days" temptations. UNIT appears to be a much more aggressively severe organization when they take Toshiko into custody than appeared in "The Sontaran Stratagem" or indeed earlier during the Classic Who era. Ianto: I agree with Stephen that Ianto was probably wanting to get into Torchwood because of Lisa. The writer was trying to write a segment in a romantic comedy style which is a nice balance between the two harsh segments. Owen: This is hard to re-watch and I always feel a sense of dread when the segment starts. Everyone has a brutal back story - with Ianto we remember Lisa - but this story of Owen's fiancee is rough. BTW: I think you're a bit too happy to see Captain John. Come on, calm down.
