Dr. Who Series 4 - Christmas episode

I know Christmas episodes usually belong to the next series. But I have started with this system back then, and I do not really want to change it, in order to stay consistent. To make it easier to find the videos if people want to find it later.

So please forgive me for this little mistake.

The episode was a good break from the finale episodes.  And I´m curious what you think about it. :) Enjoy :)

This is a link to the imdb page for this episode. with its rating. I got to it just by Googling imdb and the episode title. It doesn't show any of the others or anything from series five.. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1321969/ I don't love the episode but I do like it, especially when (as you said) it concentrates on the characters. It's good fun with a bit of peril and heartbreak and a nice Christmassy ending.. And yes, the CGI is absolute rubbish and the mechanoid just makes me think of Transformers. But I liked David Morrissey's portrayal of "The Doctor" and predictably I loved Dervla Kirwan as Rosita.

The IMBD rating for this story is 7.4. Yeah, I remember feeling a bit disappointed with this episode when I first watched it. As you said, a bit over the top at the end. I do like all the stuff between the Doctor and Jackson Lake however. And one cool thing about this episode is a lot of the location work took place near to where I live. In fact, I did go to where they were filming on night. But everything was hidden away so didn't get to see anything.

Yes it´s silly and it´s funny. I 100% agree :) I love how much fan service this show does do, that you don´t even notice if you only now the "New Who" episodes. It´s there, but it´s not. :) Haha the balloon TARDIS was so funny :) I´m glad they do have a better version now. :D Really? That´s the Torchwood Hub set? Wow they made a great job redressing it, because I didn´t notice that at all. :) I´m glad the episode lost against another Dr. Who episode, and not against another episode of another show :) Is it an episode, that I already know?

"His name, sir, is the Doctor!" - Jackson Lake, "The Next Doctor" The plot is a bit silly ("very, very silly" - Jackson Lake) but quite fun. Of course the interesting part is the character story rather than the big-monster-threatens-London stuff. We empathize with Jackson Lake as we discover more and more about what has happened. At the start we have the Doctor having to act as the companion which is pretty nice - we know that the David Doctor is being very careful as he tries to understand things and gets to tag along with the Next Doctor on his adventure. A nice call back to "Blink". We see the Classic and New Who Doctors - always a cool thing for fans to see. The more obsessive fans try to identify the episode each clip was taken from. The balloon TARDIS is a wonderful reveal - what a laugh - and the fact that Jackson Lake hasn't used it yet is sad and revealing. Jackson Lake's acronym originally annoyed me in its silliness - but now I justify it as the character knowing that TARDIS should be an acronym and having to derive it from the balloon. The set for the cyber-factory is actually the Torchwood Hub set redressed. There was a previous story that redressed the Sarah Jane Adventures's set so it wasn't uncommon. BTW: Jackson Lake's son (Frederic) was played by the same actor who played the young boy that survived in the Torchwood episode "From Out of the Rain". An odd credit trivia - David is credited as "Doctor Who" rather than "The Doctor" which has been his credit for his entire run. The story was nominated for a Hugo award but lost to another Doctor Who episode.
