Torchwood Season 3 - Children of Earth: Day one

Yes it really is :) I am soooo curious how it´s going to turn out. I´m intrigued already. :)

There´s a lot of stuff that happened in the episode. I guess I have to watch this one twice to really get a feel for it. But those children..... they were super scary :D It was nice to see Iantos and Jacks families. It shows a different side of their characters. A more personal one. I liked that :) The "blank page order" was a good surprise, because I had no idea what a blank page could mean. Do you know wether this is used in real life, too. Or if this is just something that they invented for the show? Yes, Dr. Rupesh´s storyline didn´t end how I expected it to end. :)

Yes Martha would have been great in that story :) I would like her to be in every story to be honest :) I didn´t catch the fact that she was on leave so thank you for telling me :) Ohhhhh I´m soooooo curious already. I am ready for this show :)

It would have been great to have Martha in this story but it works perfectly anyway. Five episodes broadcast on consecutive days over one week. And I didn't watch it! Well, not until much later. It took me a while to catch up with Torchwood even though I watched Doctor Who from the beginning. Did you catch the fact that Martha was on leave from UNIT because she was on her honeymoon? The series only gets more intense from now on. There will be moments when you won't believe what you are seeing. That's as much as I think I should say.

"Big science-fiction super-base. Honestly!" - Gwen Cooper, "Children of Earth - Day One" I like this story. A lot of things are happening and there is a depth to it that you can't get with a single episode story. The unresponsive children leading to that unnervingly overlong scream! Somehow one single adult is also connected to it. And Captain Jack has a daughter and a grandson! Torchwood are having a baby! A bomb is embedded inside Captain Jack! We are coming ... back! I really like the scene between Gwen and Clem. The actor, Paul Copley, plays it really well. I also like that we get to see the families of Ianto and of Captain Jack. Ok, both of them only go there to get a child that can use to test things but it's nice to see their families. The idea of the "blank page order" where a completely blank page is handed over and it is understood to be an order to kill. You can make the order but you avoid writing anything down. Wow, that's interesting. We've seen the actor playing "Frobisher" (the British government official with the two daughters) before. He was the father in "The Fires of Pompeii". Because they were played by the same actor, RTD suggested in the Declassified that Frobisher may be been a descendant of Caecilius. Incidentally, RTD used the name "Frobisher" because it was the name of an alien in one of the Doctor Who comics. Ok, in the comic "Frobisher" was a shape-shifting penguin but it's still a nice name. It makes me smile anyway. I really like the way the script introduces the doctor at the hospital (Dr Rupesh) and gives the viewer the impression that he could be a nice new Torchwood recruit - only for the reality to suddenly shoot you in the back - he was trying to infiltrate Torchwood and then he gets shot himself. Wow. That's a compact little story arc for the character. Captain Jack mentioned that he was forced to speak to a UNIT sergeant instead of Martha - a nice Martha callback. The script originally had Captain Jack actually talking to Martha but unfortunately Freema was not available for the scene. "We are coming ... back." - Children of Earth

This is a freaky first episode! For many people, this third (mini) season is something of a masterpiece. I'm not of that opinion (which I could elaborate on after it's all over); BUT, there's no doubt that the concept is compelling...and (as I said) it's freaky :)
