2022-10-16 17:41:43 +0000 UTCThe scene with the very young Adelaide and the Dalek happened during the period we saw in the final two episodes of series four. When the Earth was removed from its place in space by Davros and the Daleks. I don't mean we saw this actual scene before but it is set during that time. This fits in with the date when this episode is set and the age of the actress/character plus I think she actually mentions it but I wold have to go back and check to be sure. Of course the Daleks were intending to end reality so respecting what must happen in the future doesn't really make sense, but it's a wonderful image and concept anyway! I agree completely about the unique tone and the moral dilemma of this episode. And the ending was so shocking. Both the Doctor's potential for megalomania and the way Adelaide died. I was going to say it is shocking when you see it for the first time but to be honest it still is. Great episode and a great set up for future ones.
