Behind the Scenes: Color Study (Aubrey Plaza)

Despite being fantasy, the right usage of color can bring a lot of realism to an image, and even suggest some new ideas, like juice concentrations, ripeness, etc. I always start with standard blue (though the starting blue tone is never consistent, sometimes it lands on violets or purples, I never know where to land xD) and from there I start painting on additional colors to add more complexity to the face. A big one for me is always the lips. Having the lips be a different shade from the skin REALLY helps them pop and makes them stand out in a more titillating way ;)
What about you guys? What types of colors and tones do you like? Do you like full blues? Blues and violets? Purples? Lipstick Reds? What sort of berrygirl colors gets your gears revving?
