Astarte Equinox 2025

Happy Early Equinox! The official start of Spring and the Fertility Seasons!

The theme of this painting featuring the Goddess of my Heart, Astarte the Magnificent, Goddess of Sex and Breasts and Erotica Art, is balance. Day and Night in harmony with nymphs bathing in breast milk.

Even the media used to create this is of two parts. I first drew the image in crayon and pencil, then cleaned it up in Photoshop and painted it digitally. (I'll post that drawing on the actual Equinox later this week).

The Dove and The Lion are among the symbolic animals important to Astarte. I chose the Dove so that we might have peace in our troubled world and that our hearts might fly free towards the future we choose.

Her breast milk is the milk of creativity. May she pour forth all she has to offer, as we are willing to drink all she has to offer.

Beautiful work on Astarte, who indeed has HUGE . . . tracts of land. [hat tip to Monty Python and the Holy Grail]

Thank you! But I didn't invent her. She's a 5 thousand, or older, Goddess. Her origins started in Mesopotamia, where she was originally known as Inanna, then Ishtar, then Astarte, then Aphrodite, then Venus. And there is a great passage in the Erotic Poem :The Courtship of Inanna and Dumizi where the king sings to her. It goes : O Lady, Your Breast is your Field. Inanna your Breast is your field. Your broad field pours out plants. Your broad field pours out grain. Water Flows from on high your servant. Bread Flows from on high your servant. Pour it out for me, Inanna. I will drink all you offer. - In this instance, I believe Dumizi sings not of explicitly water and bread, but the nourishment of life. Creativity and Fertility. If you want to learn more, I suggest picking up Inanna: Queen of Heaven and Earth/Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer. By Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Noah Kramer

This is wonderful. I'm glad I'm not the only one who invents goddesses to represent my values.
