Alien: Isolation - hospital unfinished

Hello! This is the evidence of my struggles before I actually get to finish the mission. This isn't something that would make it over to YT in its current state, but I feel like some of you might enjoy it anyway before I get it to completion :)

I have a few ideas on how I can actually get past that bugger. We'll see if that works.

Comments

Great! I'm impatient to see how you get out of this :D

Star Fox

That's it's for the advice for now... good sneaking :D Oh, and remember to grab any blueprint you may find. There's one very interesting in the area.

Star Fox

Thank you! I actually finished the mission! Will be posting officially tomorrow morning! (youtube processing pending of course)

>36:30 Don't hide when there's no reason to. At that point there was no sign of the alien and the time you spent hiding before it eventually came could have been time to go at least one or two rooms further -- or to grab that map you didn't want to risk :D Don't let anxiety guide your actions... I know, this is hard, I've been there XD Keep track of the sounds made by the alien. When it walks normally it doesn't know you're there and just mind its own business (you can move around, staying out of sight and making as less noise as possible). When it's slowing down to a walk, it still doesn't know you're there but feels that something's fishy and so it switched to search mode (time to hide). If you hear screeching then running or just plain running, he saw you and is on the hunt (at which point there's not much you can do, aside from finding a room with a door that can be locked and taking advantage of the respite to hide properly, waiting for things to cool down -- just trying to outrun the alien would end poorly).

I just re-watch the video and I must say, your first run was your best. It's too bad you got caught in the middle because I bet you could have gone much further just doing what you were doing. After that you became a bit over cautious. Although I perfectly understand wanting to test the alien reactions, moving forward as soon as you could seemed to work for you in the first part of the video and quite frankly, it's the best approach. You shouldn't systematically thrust yourself into danger but you shouldn't keep stuck in the same location too long either. Quickly moving from room to room was working OK, so do it again. And use the noisemaker. Having it in your hand doesn't do any good... aside inviting the alien to find you faster. Launch the thing as far as you can in the direction your not going (there's a delay before it starts emitting sound) than move slowly but firmly in the opposite direction, where you want to go, grab maps because without them you don't know where to go, and after a time, when sounds convince you that the alien started roaming again, find a neat room you can hide into to plan your next move.

Star Fox

that was one tense and surprising moment haha

Celery of Cosmos

~45 minutes in "What!? How did he not?" had me cackling. :)

George

I loved the last death XD Surprise! The alien can tear up doors :D

Star Fox

That is great to know. I suspected that might be what has happened... but wasn't sure. :D

>41:25 The big noise that can be heard here is the alien going into a vent (you need to be able to recognize that kind of noise because they are indications of what is happening, even if you can't see it). That means the alien is no longer roaming the area, which is good. That also means that it can pop up from any vent opening at any time or that it can wait in ambush in a ceiling vent which can be bad. When you know he went back into a vent, you can move more freely but keep an eye on vent openings, and keep track of hiding spots you can use. The same kind of noise will occur when it gets out of the ventilation shafts and starts roaming again.

Star Fox

OK, I'll wait the definitive "Youtube edition" to put a full comment but I"ll still give you a tip:

Star Fox

Well, I deserved every death, so I can't call the game unfair XD

Celery of Cosmos

I would have rage quit after the second death! You have quite a lot of patience.

Kutsuou

You'd think!

Celery of Cosmos

Can't help but wonder, wouldn't Ripleys med kit have helped the woman? :P

The door overrides are temporary but useful to force it to adjust its path or downright stop his persuit. As for the motion tracker showing your objective, look for the thin bar on the outer most edge of the screen. Great first attempt though! That locker by the whiteboard is as far as I got and stopped playing... Anxiety kicked in too much, I've resorted to experiencing it vicariously.
