A word about Wicked Witch
Added 2025-02-17 23:34:37 +0000 UTCSo... Right now wicked witch of the wild west isn't doing that good. On RR it's struggling to get more than two hundred views a chapter. I feel like that's a combination of lack of interest in the Wild West setting, and the fact that it's taking me quite awhile to build the setting.
Considering it's taking me more than eight hours a day, on average, to get three chapters written, I'm probably going to cut back on it. I'll either drop it to once a week, or intermittent.
I have no intention of dropping it, but I'm not going to push myself to get WW done daily if people aren't really reading/enjoying it.
This should also give me more time to work on side projects, and prevent me from getting burnt out / Writer's block.
We'll see how that goes, and I'll adjust based on feeling. Since I'm dropping back daily chapters, I may start writing on Wednesday occasionally.
Let me know your thoughts.

I understand completely! Always the best reason to write anything :)

2025-02-18 14:54:49 +0000 UTCI can understand that. Honestly, I didn't think about how popular the setting would be, or how popular it would be, it was just the story that was in my head.

2025-02-18 14:31:16 +0000 UTCI gave it a shot. Your writing is great, that's not any problem. I'm not invested in the Wild West, but I'm not invested in Cyberpunk either. Honestly, my main issue was that my nerves are completely shot, and I just didn't have the emotional energy for the mean tone of the story. I read a lot of SCS stories. SCS is a very cozy dystopia -- the protags and their allies are at the top of the power-fantasy curve, above even the corporations, and the enemy are barely recognisably sentient. If SCS were less cozy -- say Samurai were split into enemy factions and there was constant bad feeling, backbiting, and fighting -- I wouldn't be reading it.

2025-02-18 09:27:40 +0000 UTCNot your fault. I think it's teh wild west genre. Fantasy and Scifi just resonate so much more.

2025-02-18 01:33:43 +0000 UTCYeah, I figured that was a problem. It's not your fault, I think it's just such a fringe genre these days that people don't look, or enjoy it. Like I said, I'll keep working on it, and see what I can do.

2025-02-18 01:32:46 +0000 UTCI tried truly I did. But the wild west setting needs some serious hooks to grab my attention more than it does. It's a rightly glorified but sadly faded genre. Maybe rebrand it later on into a sci-fi-fantasy genre? Too many young readers see the stars as our wild frontier rather than the dusty past of an over saturated genre like the wild west. Your one of the best new writers on the block so don't be discouraged.

2025-02-18 00:59:39 +0000 UTCFor me WWoTW just didnโt click, and I canโt clearly state why. Some stories are like that for me. Sorry for not having a better, more usable answer.

2025-02-17 23:58:50 +0000 UTCYeah, interest might pick up. I had a lot of people that really enjoyed Dueling dungeons after giving it a chance, but pushing it out three times a week? Not worth it right now.

2025-02-17 23:56:48 +0000 UTCI'll have to be honest here. I haven't taken the time to start reading it. It's not a lack of interest, more a lack of time. Between all the different SCS stories and other stories I follow on RR, SH and other platforms there's not enough time in the day. ๐ซฃ๐ It's a shame about the views though. I was rooting for it to do better.
