Little Webtoon Rant

I have been feeling so frustrated with webtoon lately after they decided to remove the creator rewards program without any sort of monetary replacement (which they promised in the past.) It’s sad to see that webtoon is giving into greed after nearly monopolizing the webcomic industry. I have dedicated so much of my life these last three years (literally almost all of my free time) to working on Osora and posting it exclusively on webtoon in hopes that it would eventually become a webtoon original while making very little income off of it from webtoon.
It’s Thank-you to all of you wonderful people who support me on Patreon that I am able to compensate for this loss of income, and I want you all to know how much it means to me. I couldn’t continue to work on Osora as often as I do without you all.
Of course I am still going to keep Osora on webtoon since it’s the largest webcomic platform, but I am really crossing my fingers that they get their shit together and start treating canvas creators better. We bring so much to their platform 💖😭

Do you think you'll do anything like print copies of sections of the story to help with the loss of webtoons money? I'd definitely be ready to buy one! I know that is probably a whole lot of extra work but I just wanted you to know you'd have a buyer if you were planning to print it!

I really care about making sure I put as much effort as possible into the art and story and continue to stay motivated and passionate about it because I’ve seen so many authors experience burnout and it shows in their stories. 2023-03-01 17:25:58 +0000 UTCI completely agree! Exactly! I have begun cross posting on tapas since this was announced because at this point I see no reason to be loyal to webtoon any longer. I also think Osora might be too controversial to be offered a webtoon original deal, and even if they did offer one I don’t think I would take it since they would have control over the storyline.

Osora is one of only two Webtoons I pay Patreon for, I absolutely love the story and your art style. I really appreciate how much time you put into it and that you are continuing despite the difficulties. Thank you for all you do! <3

2023-03-01 10:33:17 +0000 UTCI used to buy coins to support artists but now the prices increased by 60% (7 coins per chapter + the 1000 coins pack being 120 instead of 100) and Webtoon is stopping the creator support. I clearly will take my money to people's patreons until Webtoon comes back to a more reasonable approach (if they ever do).

2023-03-01 10:27:08 +0000 UTCI know that webtoon canvas has their own Instagram, and I have been able to get attention from them before on there. I just checked and it looks like there are some people commenting on their recent posts expressing their anger about the creator rewards program ending. (Webtoon didn’t make a public announcement about ending the program, they just emailed those of us who were effected by it, so many people actually are unaware of it ending) I myself am really afraid to say much publicly because I don’t want webtoon to black list Osora as a form of retaliation. Aside from instagram/ Twitter there isn’t anything that I’ve heard of for places for readers to advocate for authors 😞

I can’t that thank you enough for the smile it puts in my face. it keeps me going every time you post even at my lowest moments . I absolutely adore your comic as someone who is non-binary and a young/new adult. Everything feels well paced and any scenes covering sexual themes aren't graphic which I also am grateful for as that's not something I'm looking for or feel the comics purpose is. I'm happy to support you at the amount I can rn. Wishing you the best❤️

Your webtoon has really been so helpful in confirming my own identity, I'm so glad you promoted your Patreon as I wanted to support your work further!
