The anime only arcs are actually anime canon but its relevant to the story with Tabata helping with it. The episode list has none of this classified as filler besides its giving us insight into something we wouldn't know about. The arc is showing us what its like to live outside and how the kingdom has its own inner struggles

Tabata wrote out points and events. He didn't do the entire anime arc's story

yeah I agree DBG. The show will get much better again and will feel less dragged out as soon as the story returns to the manga canon content. I am assuming they are adding all these anime canon arcs in order to make time to add more to the manga so the anime doesnt catch up to it but I could be wrong. thats usually the only thing filler is used for.
Also since this arc is just anime canon and not manga canon that probably means the author of the series did not write any of it. Filler arcs are usually only written by the producers of the anime and have almost nothing to do with the manga author's decisions. The author will occasionally give pointers for the filler arcs but he doesnt write the plot for them. I heard that the author himself has been very disappointed with what the studio has done with the filler and anime canon arcs. In my opinion it's also a common occurrence that main characters in anime appear to be weaker than they usually are in filler arcs. Because of this i think its best to not lump this current arc and the other filler episodes with the rest of the story because it's not part of the main story line.

I'm not caught up with the anime only arc. Is it that much of a struggle or something??? I will say when the anime starts the war with the Spade you'll be more than happy with the events in it.
