There was going to be a new post, but it's gone now.

Hey. I rarely get to talk about the behind-the-scenes nature of how I prepare blog posts in a public space, but I figure I should write about this. It's about how I was going to publish something, but realized how bad of an idea that was.

So, yesterday, I was going to post an article on the game Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, a first-person shooter published by Codemasters and developed by the infamous Spark Unlimited (Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Legendary, Lost Planet 3).

The game's premise involves an alternate history World War II taking place around the 1950s, where Germany invades New York and it's up to a strapping young lad named Dan Carson to save the day.

It's not a good game. I make that clear in the original draft I was about to publish here. It was more in line with similar junky games I'd written for the site before, like Alpha Prime and Rambo: The Video Game.

However, I realized there's some particularly politically "charged" subject matter in the game that, considering how things are in 2020, just make the game ill-fitting to talk about right now.

One thing was the game's plot: the Nazis taking over the US. Replacing Thomas Dewey (because Dewey *does* defeat Truman in this timeline) with a fascist dictator to do the Nazi's bidding. One level involves invading the (now Nazi-controlled) White House to assassinate the president. Considering how the current political climate is here in the United States, it felt a bit too on the nose.

But that's not the worst of it. The final level involves getting on a zeppelin to destroy an atomic bomb that was gonna bomb New York. I would've published this one day before the anniversary of the tragic Hiroshima bombing that killed many Japanese people.

It just feels like incredibly bad timing to write about this game, even though I mention the game's ending vaguely without spoilering it, and only briefly cover the White House/President stuff.

So for now, I'm gonna postpone, likely outright cancel publishing that post here and on the Secret Area website, unless there's objections from people otherwise. I apologize for not realizing that this was a bad time to write about this game.

A more palate-cleansing article will be written in the coming days.
