Imo the best parallel with Aang and Zuko they did at the end of Season 2 is that Aang initially made the wrong choice(leaving the Guru before opening his final Chakra), then made the right choice(letting Katara go) and got punished for it(Lightning to the spine), and Zuko initially made the right choice(Deciding to finally stand up to his sister), then made the wrong choice(betraying Iroh to side with Azula) and was rewarded for it(being allowed to return home as a hero).

I loved Azula the moment she was introduced. This episode solidified my love for her because she went against the norm of letting hero power up then fight them. She was like hell no if I see a moment to end your life I'm taking the opportunity because why would I want to fight you at your best 😂

Azula is such a great antagonist, and is one of the ways book two is such a step up from book one. It's nice to have a component villain, not just in fighting but in politicking too. Not one to waste opportunities either, in the final episode she goes right for the kill. Having the book end on a loss makes for such a powerful cliffhanger for the final book.
I will say, episode 19-20 do highlight the one weakness I think this show has though, and it's an unwillingness to commit to some sacrifice they set up earlier, with the need to let go of Katara being a real quick easy peasy resolution. They do this again, but worse, in book three. It's about my only real complaint with what is an otherwise superb show.
Book two is the peak for me, with the way it interweaves so many episodes, from the Library through to finale, as part of a single arc. There's so many powerful, emotional moments. Book three is excellent, but never quite hits the same highs.

The Avatar state is a cheat code so taking him out before he properly settles in that state is absolutely the right thing to do (if you're fighting against him). There's no such thing as fighting fair or with honor in war. I know we kind of have an instinctive reaction to find everything Azula does to be the worst thing ever, but Sokka would absolutely have done the exact same thing if he'd been in her position. That's what the whole attacking the Fire Nation during the eclipse is about too. Taking advantage of an enemy's weakness even if it's not honorable. Winning is winning.

Get ready for Season 3, it's amazing... There's a reason this is THE best written, world building animated series of all time. All the emotions.

Imagine being 10 watching this, then having to wait 9 months for what happens next. One of the best episodes in the entire series imo. As far as antagonists that you need to hate in book 1, I’d say Admiral Zhao was that character.
