The scene where they are brainstorming songs isn't real probably, and the songs are usually chosen by the producers and discussed with MNET. Maybe some labels will discuss it with the groups. But, groups like ATEEZ & Straykids definitely had creative freedom as long as they conviced the board as we saw in the BTS for legendary war

My personal ranking for this ep (it’s the same as yours):
1. ONF- I really think their strength is their arrangement and the way they embody and carry their concept. The arrangement honestly gave me chills and I love how they slowly returned it back to the original.
2. TOO- one of my favorite performances of RTK! Simple concept and stage wise but their dancing was just so impactful and their determination really showed.
3. Golcha- I’m a sucker for aesthetic, contemporary performances and the black swan white swan concept really spoke to me. The fans were absolutely beautiful and I really appreciate them stepping out of their comfort zone for this one!
4. Verivery- A really strong performance but sadly I just don’t think brighter concepts have the same impact as dark ones for competition shows. They also had some terrible camera angles that didn’t show off their dancing at all lol
5. Oneus- agree with everything you said, this one really didn’t hit the mark. I just think it was one of those cases where they attempted too many things and there were too many sets and dancers and props and nothing ended up hitting at the end.

When I was watching Kingdom with another reactor I remember that they mentioned how, since Kingdom had groups from JYP and YG, it’s likely that they had some kind of paid deal with SM to use their songs for a round. Now I have no idea if that’s actually true or not obviously but I can’t help but think there may be something similar here… I mean there aren’t JYP or YG groups here but HOT, Shinee, TVXQ are all SM groups 😭 Either way I agree that the songs are probably not fully up to the groups hahah
