2024-08-08 03:06:13 +0000 UTCCalling it Deception was so funny 🤣 I think your suggestion of Pirate King was absolutely the right choice, even Thanxx would have worked well. I feel like those 2 title tracks would have fit ikon's style better and would have been easier for them to work with. Inception is too emotional and powerful so their cover of it felt kind of flat. I feel like since they decided to completely change the chorus (which is obviously the most well known part of the song) then they needed to commit to changing the rest of the song as well. Keeping the build up the same and then not giving us the satisfaction of how beautiful the original chorus is made it feel disappointing unfortunately. Inception is also super vocal heavy and even though ikon has good singers it just didn't have the same impact, so choosing a more hip hop/heavier song like Pirate King or Thanxx would have been way easier to remix and they could have more easily avoided high notes in those songs I think
