ty for the long comment I read through it all. That cell system was atroucious, and realistically showing the live standings will never get the best debut group outcome. But, it's what makes the show fun and the debut group cinema.

So the point system was absolutely horrible. 1 Korean vote equals 10 international votes and this show was not popular in anyway shape or form in Korea, so every Korean vote truly counted. With doing those stupid ass cell groups everyone that wasn’t with a popular member and or popular group was not going to make it through even if they themselves had enough points individually. So say if you’re only watching the show for Xiaoting you have to vote for Xiaotings cell and two other cells even if you don’t care who’s in it. Then you move to the next round where there are no more cells but you still have to vote for 3 people from C J and K group. So once again if you only have a solo pick you have to waste your votes and kinda vote strategically. Example Bahiyyih was vs Doah to continue on the show and that was because her solo fandom was so crazy large, im talking was so large at one point that her fandom outnumbered well known K-pop fandoms (if you look up her girls planet 999 fan cams she has them in the millions like you could not escape Hiyyih on your YouTube algorithm), but they voted incorrectly. Instead of voting for popular already guaranteed trainees they voted for everyone in the ice cream team, which lifted them up while she went further down. Then we move on to the next round of voting which is one girl from C J and K which was still a throw away for a lot of people. For pretty much every single solo fandom there was a consensus that you would vote Xiaoting for C and Yurina/Hikaru/Mashiro for J group. During the whole show K group members were shown WAY more than J and C groups members so all people really knew were those girls from those groups. Then the next round was one pick and this is where shit hits the fan. Korean votes finally show how heavy they weigh and they make the top 9 all Korean with the exception of 2 people, and the top 9 were a lot of girls who haven’t really been in the top 9 before like; Bahiyyih, Myah, and I think Suhyeon. While you have popular people like Xiaoting and Yurina in 15th and 16th place. Mnet showed the ranking after a live stream to encourage panic voting bc they HATED the lineup as it was. So people pulled their shit together and it pretty much turned into campaigners on twitter asking big fanbases for their help. It was wild. - Chaehyun had SM fans and especially AESPA fans since she trained and is best friends with them. - Hiyyih obviously had TXT fans but tbh a lot were against voting for her bc the hate was already getting beyond control and making a official partnership would have just made it worse for both Hiyyihs and Kai, so it was just a “vote if you want” kinda thing. Also, with the disgusting amount of hate she got it made a lot of people want to vote for her in support. - Yujin had CUBE fans and obviously her whole ass CLC fanbase backing her up, along with the “this is her last chance to debut and she deserves another chance” crew. - Dayeon got through with pure Korean votes bc international fans did not/do not like her from how much the show pushed her. Her hate was also very bad online. - Youngeun I think had a black pink partnership but I forget with who but her solo fanbase is HUGE in Japan and she is still by far the most popular member there to this day. - Yeseo got through on pure Korean votes. Tbh she never caught my attention on the show so she shocked me for being in the lineup. - Mashiro had JYP fans and ITZY fans backing her up since she was almost in ITZY - Hikaru was truly popular international but Koreans also really liked her bc she worked in her Korean the whole show - Xiaoting her cbar was never gonna not try their hardest to make sure she debuted. She was always popular so the panic voting very much worked to her benefit. In the end it should have been one pick from the start that way everyone including those watching could grasp who was and wasn’t popular, to give people a realistic view of what the group could potentially look like.

Somebody began posting some of her old social media posts on Korean social media. Examples are the fact that she liked an official Chinese government post saying that American imperialism caused the Korean War, and a picture she posted. (I don't speak Mandarin so I don't know if it is true or not, just going by what I read and heard.) Supposedly the picture she posted used a filter that made it look like a bomb exploded in her face Looney Tunes style, but people were claiming she was doing blackface (Here is the pic, I'll let you decide https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E-LN-kpVkAUtCvV.jpg )
