There was actually a gravity vote to decide on which stage name they would have. Each member had 4 choices from various resources. A naming service, the CEO, their parents, and then finally themselves. I dont remember which was which.

For me personally, I tend to really enjoy the Bae10 radio show hits bc it's very.....korean type humor and cleverness (which might not translate in the subtitles). I think that's why I haven't really been drawn to the non-korean lines in most groups (with the exception of a few where it's obvious the member has been in korea for a while) bc I get distracted/taken out by their accent or misunderstanding of things or having the something go over their head. I can see for international fans it really doesn't matter bc it's not like they understand korean to begin with. It is interesting to me the bias differences between korean and international fandoms (putting aside simping). Like it makes sense to me why Hayeon is VERY popular in korea (also why MODHAUS sends her out solo all the time) bc she's SO WITTY and polished when she talks but I can see how that could get lost on international audiences

2024-10-23 08:56:55 +0000 UTCYea they non klives are very fun and a lot more entertaining to me mangonim does a good jobs with subs and since there is usually a chinese member in the lives which help with pauses! I wonder if the translators are apart of modhaus staff? If not it would def explain the relaxed moderating on the clives if not then that's just the girls saying whatever lol. Def a different vibe than the klives I also think that might have to do with Korean culture a bit tbh it never feels like they are truly authentic but with the state of kpop fans rn its understandable just look at what happened to Riize and Fifty Fifty. Since kfans don't really watch the weibo lives they def get more unpolished than the klives but also that's just Xinyu and Nien in general. In the weibo lives Xinyu straight out calls out the staff saying something along the lines of "oh they are saying we are too close rn to sohyun" she then proceeds to get even closer to her for basically the rest of the live lmao. They aren't afraid to speak their minds on weibo lives and the cfans eat it up. There is something so unpolished and polished about the clives you can tell that the girls are media trained super well. Nien and Xinyu do a great job of helping translating and keep on top of the topics well when with korean members. While the clives have topics to stay entertaining you can tell they aren't scripted which makes them more entertaining to me. If you ever get into them I think a good one to start with is the Xinyu and Nien one since there isn't any translating it makes a pretty smooth watch. After that any of the weibo lives with 2 members is good it keeps pausing to a minimum then build up from their to their 4 person lives! it gets chaotic but never a dull moment. Also thank you for mentioning the chaewon/hayeon live ill have to watch it, it sounds super fun!

2024-10-23 04:51:48 +0000 UTCyeah, I haven't watched any of the non-korean lives since I don't understand them and usually don't read subtitles and the translation pauses are a little distracting to me but I can imagine the weibo and japanese ones are probably pretty entertaining since (at least to me) the mood on non-korean things seem to be a little more relaxed(? don't quote me.....I know there have been crazy netizen things that happen in china as well). I actually never watch lives but randomly watched the chaewon/hayeon live and was struck by how polished they were in front of the camera and immediately thought "oh wow, these girls are WELL trained" even though literally just being introduced. Then I watched hayeon and yooyeon on the Bae10 radio show and was really impressed with how entertaining they both were which led me down a TripleS/Bae10 rabbit hole and saw they're entertainment gold (especially yooyeon)

I thought they were funny in Korean but they are funnier in mandarin. Same with the j line and the Japanese lives. Tbh the lives are long but now that im looking at them a lot don't go over an hour which is the same length as a variety show which is interesting. Some lives are even in the 40min range maybe something he could do in the future if interested.

You should honestly check out the vlives that mangonim has subtitled.....the only problem is they're all pretty long and they're lives so there's obvi down moments in them. The chaewon/hayeon, jiwoo/yubin, yeonji/soomin, and xinyu/sohyun lives stick out as pretty nonstop entertainment Another rec for duos outside of SIGNALS are the radio hits that TripleS has done on both Bae10 and MBC (also on mango subtitled) which mostly all have been duos (sometimes 3 and Yooyeon and Hayeon have done solo since they're both such clever talkers)
