Hyolyn came to this show to be a literal mother and mentor. She's constantly striving to make her teammates and herself an improved version of themselves. Her ranking drop without spoilers would summarise that Hyolyn has a tiny Korean and international fanbase, so initially we could vote for 2 contestants, so people voted for their faves and hyolyn (who was objectively better). That's all I am going to say for now. But it's really upsetting how criminally underappreciated Hyolyn is for all she does.

2024-11-25 15:37:33 +0000 UTCdoubling is just singing the same note an octave apart. Lets say this song is was in C major. a C major chord is C-E-G (1-3-5). If someone sings a C and another sings an E (which they were doing on almost every held note during the performance), it's harmony. What was confusing your ear is that 2 people WERE singing the same note but others were singing different notes in the chord so your ear was hearing the doubling on the bottom and top. They had anywhere from 2 to 6 people singing at the same time so certain notes had to be doubled since the chords in the song are so basic. Many choruses do this where the bass section and the soprano section will sing the tonic note an octave apart while the tenors and altos will sing the 3rd and the 5th. What you were talking about re singing the tune and another person singing the tune a different direction on top is called counter melody.

2024-11-20 04:34:21 +0000 UTClol....the Don't Go performance was harmony (unless you want to assert that you know more about music than yeonjung who literally said the harmonies were nice right after the performance haha). Harmony is just singing 2 different notes at the same time from the same chord. You're just used to more complex chords in kpop (your flat 7s, 9s,11s, french minor 6ths, etc). This song is a very basic circle of 5ths song so all the chords are a major 1-3-5 chord so the harmonies sound simple but it's still harmony.
