Fuyou and her love are related to the previous episode, because he was the one who stopped the prosecution of the village leader over the poisoning. There was a scene of her looking at a letter presumably from him at the beginning of the last episode. Also, Jinshi was told by Gaoshin about Maomao's speculations because he was listening behind a pillar when they were talking about it. You can see him briefly on the left bottom of the screen near the end of the conversation. As for who that was... a surprise for next time.
