Listening to their tone and word choice it is clear none of them ever believed the official 'fake news' story. Leon was simply reporting what his spy told him and then they theorized and arrived at the correct conclusion them selves despite their lack of info. In contrast, we see Clayman hear Yamza's report at the start of the episode. Clayman believes it immediately and gets cocky because of it. Exactly what Rimuru wants. But the meeting between Guy, Leon, and Velzard serves to show us that there are those out there who are far smarter and more powerful than Clayman. And therefore much more dangerous. This meeting sets up the future beyond Walpurgis very well.
