Yes this is a remake of the original from 2008. This version is supposed to follow the manga properly, as the old one was made before the manga was finished. My understanding is the 2008 version diverted form the manga and then was never finished. This version is, in my opinion very well done (as far as I have seen haven't finished yet) and also has a nice nostalgic feel to it for those who saw the first one. Also this has already had a second season announced.
