Ooops, you are correct. That would put it at the occasion shortly after the end of season 1, when Maya had suggested they visit the main house. That is the occasion in the books when the Reminiscence Arc is set. There is another short story in that set which describes the history of the Yotsuba and why they are so feared; perhaps that will be worked into this season as well.

2024-04-06 11:25:40 +0000 UTCThe start of the episode is dated 7 months after the rest of it, so I suspect that's where the season will end, probably a tease for a season 4. Previously, I said that the tower attack was a modified version of how the written work introduced Ayako and Fumiya. Most of that banter about cross-dressing vs disguise and the comedic interactions with their underlings were originally part of the "houseboat" incident in this episode. The interaction with Mayumi was re-done from the prior season and more closely matches the written works. It has also been mentioned in them before that Mayumi is sensitive about her height, so her taking Tatsuya's comments so badly comes from that. With the re-do of that scene and the houseboat, that makes me wonder if a new party scene will be done as well.
